The red light of a lighthouse goes round in the night. Vestiges of a time when, in relation with landmarks in space, this was how people got their bearings, lighthouses these days are less and less used, replaced by markers read by the satellite technology which we almost carry around with us. Like powerfully symbolic edifices, they are still places fixed in the landscape, withstanding storms, around which everything moves. Each one has its code, automated today, which identifies it and indicates where it is geographically located. For ··· ···· ·· -· · (shine), Charlotte Seidel films a lighthouse in southwest France. In the editing, she has slightly altered the rhythm at which the Morse message, which the spectator is invited to decipher with the help of an alphabet situated at the entrance to the exhibition.
La lumière rouge dʼun phare tourne dans la nuit. Vestiges dʼun temps où lʼon se repérait ainsi, en relation avec des balises dans lʼespace, les phares sont aujourdʼhui de moins en moins utilisés, au profit de marqueurs lus par la technologie satellite que nous portons sur nous quasiment en permanence. Édifices fortement symboliques, ils nʼen restent pas moins des lieux fixes dans le paysage, résistant aux tempêtes, autour desquels tout bouge. Chacun a son code, aujourdʼhui automatisé, qui lʼidentifie et indique à quel emplacement géographique il se situe. Pour ··· ···· ·· -· · (shine), Charlotte Seidel filme un phare dans le sud ouest de la France. Elle a légèrement modifié au montage le rythme du passage de la lumière pour le transformer en un message en morse, que le spectateur est invité à déchiffrer à lʼaide dʼun alphabet situé à lʼentrée de lʼexposition.
